Complexity of numerical computation

A conference in honor of Felipe Cucker

August 19 - 23, 2019

This conference will take place in Berlin from the 19th to the 23rd of August 2019. Colleagues and friends of Felipe Cucker will celebrate his 60th birthday presenting talks on the complexity of numerical computation and related topics. Additionally, the conference will have a lecture by Felipe on art and mathematics and an exhibition of the art project Approximation Theory in which Felipe took part. Every person in Berlin with an interest in mathematics is welcome to attend the conference.

Venue

The talks of the conference will take place at the Einstein Saal of the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften, at Jägerstraße 22/23 ; except on Wednesday afternoon, when they will take place in the Institut für Mathematik of the Technische Universität Berlin, at Str. des 17. Juni 136.

The exhibition “Approximation Theory” will take place in the TU Berlin Math Library, at the Institut für Mathematik of the Technische Universität Berlin, and the conference dinner in the Restauran “San Marino”, at Savignyplatz 12.

This conference is organized by Peter Bürgisser, Teresa Krick, Javier Peña and Steve Smale.
